Jo and I recently went to San Francisco to visit friends and enjoy a "warm" weekend! Well, it wasn't too warm that weekend with the fog, but we had a lot of fun and explored a lot of the city by foot. We were able to make it to see Coit Tower, Bernal Heights, walk through The Mission and go to Golden Gate Park (and the Japanese Tea Garden). March is a great time of year to see the flowers blooming. And of course, it was great to see friends.

Second time doing the West Coast Trail was a blast!

In September, I hiked the West Coast Trail of Vancouver Island in British Columbia with a bunch of friends. This was the second time that I have hiked the trail. It was years ago (1998?) when I first did it with JP and his brother Michel.

This time we had a bigger crew with JP, Miriam, Louise, Christine, Ken, Mark, Vk and me. It was a blast to get out there with a bunch of friends in the backcountry for 8 days. Although there are some grueling parts of the trail, it is fun and relaxing – at least if you don't try to do it in 5 or 6 days. Eight days is a nice round number.

I took 21 rolls of film on the trip – mostly bracketed shots – so I have 240 pics in slide format (Velvia 50). I also had my Canon SD 550 there and took another 200+ shots. Although it captured some good pics, I really like what I can get with film and it also gives me slide shows! The above link is only shots scanned from slides. I will start another site soon with lots of digital pics of mine and others from the trip.

I love Whistler!

Last weekend, I was able to get away for three days and head up to Whistler with Pat and Cathy. It's always a blast. The weather was warm and mostly sunny, allowing the snow to soften up during the day.

Although I did some of my normal mogul runs, Pat and I decided to spend some time in the park too. Whistler built a really nice beginner park – one with good kickers but no table tops to clear. Here are some pictures from this adventure and a video of Pat's first (and also successful!) 360.

It was great to get out and play in the snow one last time this season.

Well, I am a little embarrassed that it took be almost 2 years to get the pictures up on the site, but better late than never. This is probably the last major set up on the site before I move into the house. This is partly because I need to get the house done, but also because I don't have my CRT set up anymore and I used an LCD to finalize these photos. I can already tell that the color is off on them. I bet that I will be retouching them later in the year!

I just threw this video quickly together from some video that Peter (our lead guide) shot with a digital camera. All things considering reasonable quality shots of quality action! We got Mich doing a front flip, James doing a back roll, Jay and Simon going big and a group mayhem finale. White Grizzly rocks!
